Integrated photonic-electronic systems for classical and quantum information processing

Integrated photonic-electronic systems combine the bandwidth of photonics with the precision and scalability of electronics, providing a platform for both classical and quantum information processing. In this talk, I present integrated systems we realized in silicon photonics and electronics across three domains: (i) large-scale programmable photonic processors built on crosstalk-corrected thermo-optic phase shifter arrays, (ii) quantum-limited coherent transceivers for optical links that operate beyond the shot-noise limit, and (iii) quantum phased arrays that manipulate free-space quantum information for wireless quantum technologies. For each system, I address the theory, design, experiment, and application, and outline how these systems can be deployed in classical and quantum computing infrastructure.
